When the Dixie Lions Club were chartered it had 44 Charter Members. In 1955 - 56 the club had 28 members with a reorganization taking place and dedicated Lions assuming responsibility.
In October 1956 the First Peanut Sale was organized and the first of many Carnivals were held at Dixie Plaza in June.
In 1958 - 59 Heather Gordon of Gordon Graydon High School won the District Lions Effective Speaking Contest and placed third in the Multiple District competition.
In November 1959 Dixie was Incorporated - Money was raised from the peanut sales, carnival and the sale of tickets on a cottage.
In 1960 - 61 The site for the Westacres Pool was finally approved by Toronto Township Council and canvassing of homes and fundraising was undertaken and by April $10,000 had been raised and invested in short term notes.
In 1961 - 62 The Applewood merchants donated a compact car to the Dixie Lions and raised $ 2,727 after expenses.
1962 - 63 The Club presented a cheque to the Township of Toronto for $25,000 to cover the cost of the Westacres Pool.
1964 - 65 The South Peel Lions Clubs undertook to raise $50,000 for a workshop for the Mentally Retarded.
1965 - 66 The Dixie Lions raised $12,000 towards the workshop for the retared Association of South Peel.
1967 - 68 The Club held a dance with Guy Lombardo playing and raised $2,400 which went to the South Peel Association for the mentally retarded which brought the donations to $8,300.
